If you were not aware, tonight LGBT cable channel LOGO and the HRC held a forum on LGBT issues with several democratic presidential cantidates. In a break from the tedium of the debate circuit, they chose instead to have each cantidate take turns sitting individually in front of a pannel who asked questions. I found this to be a great format for the purpose of the night as it allowed each to really focus on speaking to LGBTA america instead of each other in bitter one-upmanship. Their website now contains video of each cantidate. If you care about LGBT related issues, I highly recomend this debate as a way to get a sense of each cantidates personal and political take on the topics.
I have a few thoughts that I want to say briefly. Perhaps the most important thing in light of my previous post on these cantidates is an oversight. I failed to mention Dennis Kucinich! I freaking love this guy. Ever since I saw him speak at Luther durring the previous campaign, I am absolutely floored by his intense courage advocating some of the most progressive causes in Congress. Of course, that's also part of the problem, he's completely unelectable at this point. But it is his very presence in the debates that brings his important liberal voice to mainstream audiences. It took him 5 times to get elected to Congres and I agree with pannelist Melissa Etheridge who said she hopes he continues to run until he is elected!
But overal, of the top cantidates, I still believe Clinton is best (best being a relative term, of course) able to match my stance on the issues and to articulate them in an eloquent way with poise, experience, and believeable compassion.
