So it's done. I'm leaving UGA for greener pastures... (er, more liberal, sane, less racist, sexist, homophobic, do I need to go on?) I'm going to the University of Minnesota for my Ph.D. starting this fall. I was just looking into some academic schedule stuff from UGA in planning my summer and I came across this lovely statement on the calendar:
*Note:
The University will not observe Memorial Day as a holiday this year in order to observe Christmas Eve.
Now I'm the last person to care about patriotism, let's be honest here. But something about this statement just makes me cringe. I'm not sad to leave.

Global Warming What?
Labels:
environment,
world
Yeah we're fucked... But on the bright side, people seem to be finally noticing. I've had about 6 or 7 students between my two sections of public speaking this semester give speeches on global warming. (If any of you cyberstalked me to this blog, follow the link for prime material for the next speech!)

300

I really want to see 300, but I just read a dissapointing review from a trusted source... Here's a choice comment:
“300” is the epitome of negligent filmmaking in a time of war that not only manages to insult the current day political atmosphere, but to deny the complexities of the reality of war.

The Bunny Mask Gives me Nightmares...

Lots of music lately... I guess I'm just in that kind of mood. I've been listening to this one a lot. The haunting beauty of Korn's "Falling Away From me" from their new MTV Unplugged set (video here) is captivating and solidifies their place as the greatest band ever in my mind. The use of those hand held church bells is particularly genious ;o)
Since a couple people asked, the song I posted a few days ago was Sacha Sacket "Stuck in the Sunset." His myspace site has a new song just out yesterday and a video of "Stuck in the Sunset" where he totally makes love with the camera ;o)
