Barack "Wellstone" Obama

Today I waited outside with about half a million other people to see Barack Obama(imagine everyon in that picture and the equally packed seats behind me wrapped around the Target Center and down so many blocks I couldn't see the end! My estimate was about a mile). His message: I'm the legacy of Paul Wellstone. He even claims that he sits in Wellstone's former desk in the senate, to add visual emphasis to the idea. I really like Obama, I genuinely do. In fact, for the first time, after seeing everyone there, I've come to fully appreciate his populist grass-roots vision. I truly believe that is something this country needs and he has proven an ability to cultivate it. In THAT quality, at least, I am on board with the Wellstone comparison.

However, I am NOT yet convinced he truly has the ability (yet) to produce the results he asserts in the position of president. Even though his positions are more liberal in some cases, I actually believe Hillary will be able to bring about further progressive change when in office. There's more to the president than the sum of their beliefs. On any account, I'm excited to see Clinton tomorrow. I'll be leaving early to wait all day since she doesn't quite have the 20,000 capacity stadium that Obama secured for today. Check out his speech here if you're interested, he's always a good speaker, I'll give him that.
