Soundtrack of My Life

It's Sunday morning and I'm bored. Xa posted this recently so I thought I'd give it a try. I used my playlist of songs rated 4 stars or above (855 songs) lest it get too out of hand and obscure (running talley of 17,253 songs at the moment).

Rules of the game:
1. Put your iPod, iTunes, Windows Media Player, CD player, etc. on shuffle.
2. For each question, press the forward (next) button to get a new song, the title of the song is the answer to the question.
3. You must write the song name down no matter how silly it sounds

Hillary Clinton vs. Super Bowl Sunday

I got there really early cause I wanted a good seat. I ended up volunteering and helping set up and organize! It was a great time, albeit rather exhausting. But I was really there to see Hillary, and her speech didn't dissapoint.

Despite the grassroots hype around Obama, it was Clinton's speech that felt far more of the people. Not only were the first speakers representatives from four major unions who endorse her, but the general energy of the room was like a social protest as opposed to a rock concert like Obama's. I genuinely think it was more than simply differences in venue, too.

On the important matters, however, I am reaffirmed in my belief that while Obama excells at speaking on the thematics of hope, it is Clinton who has the experience, infastructure, and political sensibility best suited to our political landscape. While there are a few things Obama is more liberal in line with my beliefs, I still find Clinton's experience much more important and expect that regardless of standpoint, SHE will ultimately bring the country further along a progressive agenda when it comes down to concrete policy advances. But more important, the one issue I am most passionate about, health care, is an area that Clinton's version is better. She mandates universal coverage. That's a deal breaker for me. I know she can make it happen, and I support her 100%.

Her speech touched on issues, not thematics. She is genuine. She is strong and resilient. She will be a successful and productive president. Vote tonight!

Barack "Wellstone" Obama

Today I waited outside with about half a million other people to see Barack Obama(imagine everyon in that picture and the equally packed seats behind me wrapped around the Target Center and down so many blocks I couldn't see the end! My estimate was about a mile). His message: I'm the legacy of Paul Wellstone. He even claims that he sits in Wellstone's former desk in the senate, to add visual emphasis to the idea. I really like Obama, I genuinely do. In fact, for the first time, after seeing everyone there, I've come to fully appreciate his populist grass-roots vision. I truly believe that is something this country needs and he has proven an ability to cultivate it. In THAT quality, at least, I am on board with the Wellstone comparison.

However, I am NOT yet convinced he truly has the ability (yet) to produce the results he asserts in the position of president. Even though his positions are more liberal in some cases, I actually believe Hillary will be able to bring about further progressive change when in office. There's more to the president than the sum of their beliefs. On any account, I'm excited to see Clinton tomorrow. I'll be leaving early to wait all day since she doesn't quite have the 20,000 capacity stadium that Obama secured for today. Check out his speech here if you're interested, he's always a good speaker, I'll give him that.
