Dear KSTP,
Your story on the evening news tonight about vaccinations
(http://kstp.com/article/11754/) made me incredibly angry. Your lack
of basic medical information to counteract your baseless
anti-vaccination fear-mongering is exactly why the number of parental
objections is going up! Showing the mother who lost her child making
unsupported causal claims connecting the vaccine to her death and not also providing the basic medical research that overwhelmingly
demonstrates the relative safety of vaccinations is simply grossly
irresponsible journalism.
Yes, of course it's sad, but why didn't you give as much airtime
exploring the other mother who's child died because she didn't get
vaccinated? And why didn't you give medical experts to discuss the
fact that it is important for all parents to get their children
vaccinated instead of giving credence to the detractors by merely
voicing their concerns as if they have a basis in fact? You're not
doing anyone any favors by trying to stay "neutral" on this issue.
It's bad journalism, and people will literally die as a result of the
growing movement against vaccinations that you just helped fan.
Start doing your job.
